The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also subject to restrictions on his internet use and must tell the police about every device he has, including phones, that he could use for going online, making calls or texting.
On the ruling by York Magistrate Court, Yorkshire based newspaper report that
the controls are part of an interim sexual risk order and will be in place until 19th May, when York magistrates will decide whether to make a full order and if so, for how long.
As a result of the order, if the man plans to start any kind of sexual relationship with a woman or to have one-off sexual activity with any woman, he must contact North Yorkshire Police and tell them who the woman is, at least 24hrs before any sexual activity takes place.
If he moves to a different county, he must tell the local police force there instead.
Full sexual risk orders last for a minimum of two years. If they are breached, the offender may face a prison sentence of up to five years.
The orders are used when someone has not been convicted of a sex offence, but the police convince a court one is necessary to protect the public from the person the order is made against.
North Yorkshire Police successfully applied for the interim order against the man, and will apply for the full order on 19th May.
Sexual risk orders are civil orders and one can be made when the person concerned has not been convicted of a sexual offence.
