The
Ministry of Interior has renewed curfew hours imposed on of Alavanyon and
NkonyaTownship in the Volta Region, Bunkprugu and Bimbilla Townships in the
Northern Region. According to a statement signed by the sector Minister Mark
Woyongo, government renewed the curfew hours on the advice of the Volta and
Northern Regional Security Councils and by Executive Instrument.
The
statement said curfew in the Alavanyon and Nkoyan Township has been reviewed
from 9:00pm to 6:00am effective Friday January 22, 2016.
Curfew in Bunkprugu has also been reviewed
from 8:00pm to 6:00am effective Tuesday, January 26, 2016.
In Bimbilla the curfew hours has been
reviewed from 6:00am to 6:00pm.
The
Statement expressed appreciation to the
chiefs , Elders , Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area for their
efforts in ensuring peace in the area. It urged the people in the area to use
established mechanisms for the resolution of all their conflicts and disputes.
“Meanwhile,
Government will like to reiterates that there is a ban on all persons in these towns
their environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any
person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted” the
statement said.
