Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Boss Charlotte Osei says the
commission is willing to engage the services of all relevant professionals to
ensure a free, fair and credible polls. Her comment follows a proposal by the
Institute of Chartered Accountants, to the EC indicating their preparedness to assist
in this year’s elections.
The certified chartered accountants are expected to help in
the collations of certified results in all the collation centres.
The EC Boss Charlotte Osei has said the Commission will need
the expertise of the accountants at the collation centers.
The electoral body has committed itself to securing the help
of professional institutions to help in the management of the November
elections. Already the Ghana Bar Association has publicly stated its readiness
to play a role in preserving the credibility of the polls.
In an interview with Samson Lardy Anyenini on Newsfile on
Joy FM , Mrs Osei said “The Chartered accountants have written to us and they
are willing to do voluntary work…and we think that we will need them at the
collation centers”.
She noted that a required number of 275 professional will be
needed to help with the polls in the various constituencies.
