ALL SET FOR TOMORROW DEMONSTRATION...SAYS TUC

The Trades Union Congress (TUC)  says all is set for the peaceful  nationwide demonstration scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday 20,2016  but warns that  political parties hoping to make gains out of the demonstration to back off.
A statement  signed by TUC General Secretary, Kofi Asamoah  says it has come to the attention of the union that  some political parties are planning to politicize the demonstration.“ We will therefore want to emphasize that the demonstration is for workers.”
“We therefore advise all political parties to stay away from the demonstration,” the statement said..
The TUC is hoping to use the peaceful nationwide industrial action to drum home their outrage about recent increases in taxes as well as hikes in petroleum and utility prices.
The Wednesday, January 20, 2016 demonstration is expected to start in Accra and replicated in all regional capitals.
According to the statement, in Accra, the demonstration will start from Obra Spot near Nkrumah Circle at 7:30am.
“The routes for the demonstration in the Regional Capitals will be announced by Organised Labour Leaders in the various regions,” the TUC statement noted..
Mr Asamoah appealed to all workers in both formal and informal sectors to take part in the demonstrations.
