President John Mahama climaxed his two day
Accounting to the People tour of the Upper West region with the inauguration of
a twelve unit Basic School complex for the Wa Prison Service.
The school is a GETFUND project and is aimed at
equipping prison inmates acquire practical skills to enable them to integrate
into society. The new school will accommodate inmates, members of
the community, and neighbouring towns. Mr. Mahama also donated some food items to the
prison.
This is the first time a President is visiting the Wa Prisons.
The President John Mahama also cut sod for the
construction of a new military garrison in the Upper West regional capital, Wa. Whiles in the region, the president interacted with
the chiefs and people of the region, including religious leaders, students,
workers, and traders.
He used the opportunity to elicit feedback and
inaugurate new projects.
The region is the eighth to be visited by President
Mahama since he began the nationwide tour in April.
